KARACHI: The Karachi University Teachers’ Association launched a two-day class boycott on Tuesday in protest of Secretary Universities and Boards Department’s behaviour.
According to information, the Karachi University Teachers Society (KUTS) has called for a two-day class boycott after Secretary Mureed Rahimo postponed the Selection Board session without getting permission beforehand.
At a news conference, President of the Instructors’ Union Shah Ali Al-Qadr stated that the Karachi University teachers think the secretary board purposely suspended the selection board that was scheduled to meet on Monday, infringing on the university’s sovereignty.
The varsity has also requested that the Sindh government appoint a permanent vice-chancellor.
KUTS President Dr Shah Ali Al-Qadr said that the association will meet on Thursday to consider the future course of action.
It’s worth noting that the University of Kansas has been without a permanent vice chancellor for the past three years.
