KARACHI: At effort to provide recreational opportunities to the general people, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has planned to open a zip line along the city’s Clifton shoreline in Bagh Ibne Qasim.
City Administrator Barrister Murtaza Wahab, who also acts as the Sindh government’s spokesperson, made the announcement.
The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) Parks and Horticulture Department has issued a tender for the installation of the zip line project.
Parks Director General (DG) Junaid Ullah Khan said that the proposed zip line would be 3,000 feet long and would run from Kothari Parade to the Bagh Ibne Qasim boundary wall on Clifton Beach Road.
“The whole length of the zip line ride in Bagh Ibne Qasim in Karachi would be 3,000 feet,” he added, adding that the parks and horticulture department has requested sealed proposals from companies to operate and build a zip line for a 10-year term.
“By February 22, 2022, the best, suitable, and interested companies have been invited to submit their feasibility plan with a detailed design of the zip line installation, the time necessary for its installation, and the material to be utilised thereon,” he stated.
He noted that promoting tourism in the metropolis was a high priority for the local government.
It’s worth noting that this will be the first line ride in the port city. At the moment, the country has two zip lines, one in Malam Jabba and the other in Islamabad.
