The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) rejected a request to postpone the second round of local government elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday.
During the hearing, advocate General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa stated that only discussions on the conduct of elections are going place in other provinces. Elections could not be place during Ramadan, according to the lawyer.
The procedure of filing nomination documents has already begun, according to DG Law ECP. The election process will be affected by changes in the timetable.
The Supreme Court has directed the Election Commission to consider all concerns, according to the Advocate General. The Election Commission has made a safe conclusion about the second phase’s scheduling.
The second phase of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa local body elections will take place on March 31, according to the decision.
