Some Russian channels have their monetization blocked by YouTube.

Washington(AFP) – Due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, YouTube has declared that it will prohibit specific Russian channels from selling their videos, among other limitations.

“We’re taking a variety of initiatives in light of the exceptional circumstances in Ukraine,” a Google subsidiary representative said in a statement on Saturday.

“Our teams have begun to stop the ability for some channels to monetise on YouTube, including RT’s YouTube channels internationally,” said the spokesman, referring to the Russian state-funded news organisation.

Ads that display when consumers watch YouTube videos are how YouTube channels make money.

Facebook also said on Friday that it will prohibit Russian state media from using its platform to run advertisements and monetize.

Following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine on Thursday, nations throughout the world imposed wide penalties on Russian firms, banks, and politicians.
