Syed Tariq Fatemi, who had been appointed as Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs the day before, was fired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday.

He will, however, continue to serve as a special assistant but will no longer be in charge of foreign affairs. Fatemi has also been elevated to the rank of minister of state.

PM Sharif appointed Fatemi as his special assistant for foreign affairs on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Ehsan Ur Rehman Mazari was appointed to the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC).
