The federal capital’s Red Zone has been sealed with containers after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) requested security in advance of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-(PTI) Insaaf’s protest in front of Election Commission offices across the country.
IG Islamabad met with officials from the Election Commission at the Election Commission’s Central Secretariat, where they discussed security arrangements.
In light of the protest, the ECP directed IG Islamabad to make foolproof security arrangements. PTI rallies will not be permitted in the red zone, according to IG Islamabad. Because of the PTI’s protest, the entrance to the red zone will be via Margalla Road, according to police sources.
