Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his displeasure on Monday over the provinces’ delay in procuring wheat and emphasised the importance of completing the process by June 1.
He directed the Minister of Food Security and Research to form an urgent committee to ensure the equitable distribution of imported wheat throughout the provinces.
The prime minister stated that the people could not be forced to suffer, and that the federal government would provide flour at a lower cost.
He directed that the price of 10 kg flour be fixed at Rs 490 at Utility Stores and that steps be taken to ensure the same price in the open market in the provinces.
