Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called for a concerted effort to address the threat of Covid, climate change, and conflict to food security.
He said recent geopolitical developments have compounded the already challenging position of food security, speaking at the “Global Food Security Call to Action” Ministerial Meeting in New York on Thursday.
Pakistan, according to the Foreign Minister, has the ability to not only meet its own food security demands, but also to help feed the people of the region and the world.
He expressed sorrow that Pakistan had yet to realise its agricultural and industrial potential.
Climate change, the Covid epidemic, and poverty, according to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, pose an existential threat to Pakistan. According to him, Pakistan is now food, water, and energy insecure.
He claimed that Pakistan is taking the lead in pressing for humanitarian aid for Afghans. He claimed Pakistan had helped Afghanistan and Ukraine with humanitarian aid.
Hunger has no country, poverty has no regard for our skin colour, and climatic calamity has no ethnicity, according to him.
