PML-N politician put to judicial detention in land grab case.

LAHORE (Channel News) — Chaudhry Muhammad Asharf, a member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in the National Assembly, was arrested on judicial remand on Friday.

After a two-day physical remand, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) hauled him before a court judge. After hearing the case, Judicial Magistrate Kamran Zafar authorised a 14-day physical remand after the anti-corruption body sought an extension in his physical detention.

Previously, the ACE detained the politician for stealing over 157 acres of government land in his NA-161 district (Sahiwal). Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has criticised his detention and labelled it “political victimisation”.
