LAHORE – Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and President Arif Alvi met twice back-to-back to discuss the nation’s fast shifting political landscape.

The Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governors’ tardiness in announcing the election date raised worries during the conference.

PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry was arrested early on Wednesday after being charged under sections 153A, 506, and 124 A of the Pakistan Penal Code in response to a complaint made by the secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan, Umer Hameed.

The PTI leaders expressed their displeasure at Mr. Chaudhry’s abrupt detention and threatened to organise nationwide demonstrations and file a legal complaint.
