ISLAMABAD – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) negotiations with the government were finalised on Thursday after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif gave his approval.

According to sources with knowledge of the event, the IMF team met with PM Shehbaz Sharif via video connection. Through a video hookup, PM Shehbaz spoke with the IMF team about the initiative.

Ishaq Dar, the minister of finance and revenue, expressed confidence earlier today that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) would resolve the issues and that the public will soon hear the “good news.”

He said that in order to promote economic development and prosperity, the government was moving quickly to increase the length and calibre of the nation’s road infrastructure. On Thursday in Islamabad, the minister spoke at the event marking the end of the Road Safety Conference for Parliamentarians.

In order to guarantee that there are no traffic accidents in the nation, the minister said that the government was also working to enforce road safety rules effectively.

He emphasised the need of focusing on traffic regulations and making sure they are strictly enforced as he pleaded with lawmakers to develop the required measures to increase road safety. In order to establish a secure and up-to-date transportation infrastructure for the nation, Mr. Dar said that the government has included 50 projects totaling Rs118.4 billion in the current fiscal year.

The finance minister emphasised that since the PML-N administration completed the highway project from Islamabad to Lahore in the early 1990s, the nation’s motorway network has nearly completely grown.
