Islamabad and the Punjab administration decided on Saturday to end the military deployment following an improvement in the law and order situation.

The Chief Commissioner’s office wrote to the Ministry of Interior, demanding that notifications of military deployments made on May 10 be withdrawn in the public interest.

According to the letter, the forces were posted in the federal capital of Islamabad to ensure peace and stability, but the security situation is currently sufficient, thus there is no need for the troops to stay any longer. Similarly, the Punjab administration has written to the Ministry of Interior, urging that the army be withdrawn immediately.
