TEHRAN: Nine foreign nationals, believed to be Pakistanis, were slain by unidentified gunmen in southern Iran on Saturday, more than a week after the neighbours traded deadly cross-border fire.
“Witnesses said this morning that unknown gunmen killed nine non-Iranians in a house in the Sirkan neighbourhood of Saravan city” in Sistan-Baluchistan province, the Iranian news agency said.
According to the CIA, no group or individual has claimed responsibility as of yet.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Iran denounced the “horrifying killings” on Twitter and urged Iran to fully cooperate with Pakistani authorities in the case.

Tehran said it had targeted Jaish al-Adl, a terrorist cell that has carried out a series of fatal strikes in Iran in recent months.
The Iranian strikes, which Pakistan said killed at least two children, elicited a strong condemnation from Islamabad, which withdrew its ambassador from Tehran and barred Iran’s representative from returning.
Tehran also summoned Pakistan’s charge d’affaires for the strikes, which killed at least nine people.
However, the two nations declared that they had chosen to de-escalate the situation and restart diplomatic missions, with both ambassadors returning to their positions.
“As per the understanding between the two countries, Ambassador of Pakistan Muhammad Muddasir Tipu arrived in Tehran today, while Iranian Ambassador of Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam arrived in Islamabad,” the FO spokeswoman said in a post on X.
