Amna Urooj, the defendant in the Khalilur Rehman Qamar honey trap case, had her bail request denied by the Lahore High Court, which emphasized the nation’s increasing tendency of legal abuse.
The case was tried by a court that included Justice Asjad Javed Gharal and Chief Justice Miss Alia Neelum.
Chief Justice Alia Neelum questioned the defense’s account of harassment during the hearing, pointing out that a woman who works as an independent real estate broker in a big metropolis like Lahore is usually not readily frightened.
The defense contended that the accused was wrongfully implicated and involved in the real estate industry.
Amina Urooj was implicated in Khalilur Rehman Qamar’s purported abduction, the prosecution retorted, claiming that she was involved till he was brought to Nankana Sahib.
The trial must be finished within a month, the judge said, noting that the bail application has been waiting since September.
The judge denied her bail request, confirming the gravity of the charges and the ongoing legal proceedings, despite the defense’s allegations of her engagement in show business and the creation of promotional videos.
The Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore had earlier denied Amna Urooj’s bid for release, therefore on September 10, 2024, she went to the High Court.
