The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) asked President Arif Alvi not to accept Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recommendation because he has already lost the faith of the majority of National Assembly members.

A meeting of the Pakistan People’s Party’s core committee was conducted Thursday evening in Islamabad’s Zardari House, presided over by PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari, and attended by the party’s top leadership.

The discussion went through the recent political developments in the aftermath of the opposition parties’ vote of no confidence in Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The meeting congratulated the people of Pakistan on their victory, noting that the chosen Prime Minister had lost his majority and mandate, and that this fact would be formally recognised as part of the democratic, constitutional, and political process as the Constitution progressed in the days ahead.

In view of the fact that he (Prime Minister) has already lost the faith of the majority of National Assembly members, the meeting determined that the PM had lost all moral authority and mandate to give commands to the bureaucracy, which was no longer obligated to follow his directives.

The meeting also instructed President Dr. Arif Alvi not to accept any advise from the Prime Minister.
