On Thursday, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) deferred its decision on an acquittal request of an accused in a case involving an assault on the Parliament and Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV).

The suit was submitted by 11 defendants, including Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Defence Minister Pervaiz Khattak, Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mehmood, Planning Minister Asad Umar, MPA Aleem Khan, and PTI leader Jahangir Khan Tareen.

In their plea, the plaintiffs stated that they were charged in this case under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) of 1997 for registering a protest against the former administration. They said that opposition parties are now carrying out the same anti-government rallies, but that the administration has not filed any FIRs against them.
